Happy 5th Anniversary!

Okay, this is my 3rd post today and I can't believe I almost forgot to do this one!
Today is our 5th wedding anniversary.
Whew, 5 years! I'm proud to have made it this far and look forward to many more wonderful, fulfilling years together.
We're headed down to St. Augustine for the weekend to a quaint little B & B called the Cedar House Inn Victorian Bed & Breakfast. We didn't have a honeymoon so we are going to enjoy a lovely weekend without the kiddies and do some sightseeing.

A Quick Post

Here is the left page of my spread in Ophelia's journal. I'm finishing the right side today when my little guys go down for their naps and will have a pic soon.

A "Beady" Giveaway

Good morning! My friend Andrew Thornton is having a giveaway today. These gorgeous Picasso beads are courtesy of Raven's Journey. Head over to Andrews' blog and check it out!

A Sneak Peek...

Here's a quick sneak peek at the background of my spread in Ophelia's journal. The butterfly wing was my color inspiration and will be used in my final layout.
Lots more work to do, so I don't want to giveaway too much right now. Enjoy!

Round Robin Update

Here is the first of 11 journals I'll be receiving in the Art Journal Round Robin that I am participating in. This journal comes from Ophelia Staton. Ophelias' journal is so welcoming!
She embellished not only the cover, but also the back and created sign-in pages each with it's own envelope and tag for the artists to introduce themselves. She's prepped enough pages for each of us to have a full spread (2 facing pages). I truly cannot wait to dive into this journal tomorrow! Ophelia, thank you for sharing this journal with me and the other participants. It's a wonderful piece of art!
If you want to check out the others artists's work you can click on the link above (art journal round robin) to access everyone's blogs.
I hope to share my journal progress with you this weekend!

Calling All Mothers...Read This!

I found this on my blog friend Amanda Davies' blog this morning and asked her if she minded me sharing it on my blog. She agreed.

As a wife and mother of 2 boys I am surrounded by testosterone daily! I found this cartoon totally hilarious...

Round Robin - Round 1: Cover

Well, it's done! I'm amazed that I didn't wait until the last minute to finish my journal cover for the Round Robin. We have to mail out our journals by May 17th and I'm actually 10 days ahead of schedule. That's a miracle for me!
I will be posting links to the other participants as they become available. So stay tuned for Round 2 soon!
Have a creative and blessed weekend!
HELP! Can any of you tell me how to place my photos throughout my paragraphs? I only seem to have the pics fall at the top of my posts! I see others on Blogger do this and can't seem to figure it out.

*Journal Cover In Progress*

Last week I swallowed my fear and decided to participate in my first art journal round robin. I am so ecstatic about it! I recently found Erin Kenepps' blog via a post Roben-Marie Smith did on Facebook. I went to check out Erin's blog and found that not only did I like her work but she was calling for participants in a round robin. After 2 days of waivering as to whether I was a "good enough" (note: that nasty inner critic we all have was telling me this) artist, I decided to sign up.

I went to Michaels yesterday with my 40% off coupon and bought my journal. It's a 7 x 10 mix media journal. Erin asked that we keep our journals small in order to keep shipping costs down.

The photo above shows my work in progress. We are to create our covers for round one and send them off to our recipient by May 17th.

I'll be doing regular updates as each round begins so that you can see our progress. I will also share the links to each of our blogs so that you can follow along with those as well.

A Busy Saturday...Whew!

Note: This necklace is now available in my Etsy shop! Quick! Grab it while you can! This is the 3rd version of this necklace that I've made and the other 2 have already sold. I had this one last "love letter" pendant by Jade Scott and wanted to use it.

Okay, on to other business. We had a busy Saturday. We spent the majority of the day at the Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival in Fernandina Beach (Fla.). In order to make it a memorable day we took the scenic route and headed first to a little fishing village called Mayport. From Mayport your can catch a ride to Fernandina on our local ferry called the Jean Ribault. My oldest son Noah had never been on a ferry and was ecstatic to be taking his first ride. We had a bit of a wait, as the ferry runs on the hour and half hour, so he and Dad took a walk around the village. Once on the ferry he really seemed to enjoy it.

We made it to the festival unscathed and spent the day sweating and soaking up our Florida sun. Man, was it hot! 89 degrees to be exact! We got sunburned and enjoyed some great fine art and crafts and freshly caught fried shrimp. The kids had fun and we are all tuckered out!

I hope your Saturday was eventful and fun?
